Welcome to Saturday's Critters !
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
On Oct 30-31st hubby and I visited Edwin B Forsythe NWR near Atlantic City NJ. We got a great deal on a one night stay in the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City New Jersey. The Edwin B. Forsythe wildlife refuge has an 8 mile wildlife drive, trails and a nice visitor center. We visited the wildlife refuge twice, once on Oct 30th and again on the 31st before heading home. Here are some of the birds we saw on the first day. I took a lot of photos.
The Yellow-rumped Warblers (butter-butt) were right next to the visitor parking lot. I think they may have been eating juniper berries, not positive though. BTW, if any of my id's are wrong I do not mind being corrected.
We saw a few Mute Swans at the beginning of the wildlife drive.
There were lots of Snowy Egrets and Great Egrets.
The Northern Pintail ducks were plentiful.
The American Black Duck is a common sight at this wildlife refuge. I think the little shorebirds are the Dunlin, but I could be wrong. Any id help is appreciated.
The only duck I am sure of below is the Green-winged Teal, not so sure about the others? Maybe a female Northern Pintail and more Black Ducks.
Below the Great Blue Heron look pretty spreading it's wings and there is a Northern Shoveler off to the right.
I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !
Here is a list of my linky parties;
Also visit: I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host: Anni.

what a wonderful place to spend a couple of days exploring Eileen. Love seeing the size difference between those 2 Egrets. Thanks for hosting. I hope you have a great weekend.
It is good to see the wildlife enjoying their natural habitats. A beautiful windy day. Have a happy weekend!
Hello Eileen. You have seen a lot of birds. Wonderful photos. The photo of egrets is great. I can see that the Snowy Egret is so much smaller that the Great Egret. Have a happy weekend!
Nice variety of birds.

Hello Eileen,
Beautiful series of photos, the blue heron and the silver heron are really beautiful.
I can not place the link again, do you want to do it for me !!
Best regards, Irma
Nice images. What a great place to visit for the birds! I grew up in New Jersey and my brother now lives at the edge of the refuge, which we called Brigantine in those days. I'd love to get back there again. Can't help with the bird Id-- I see 2 GW Teal and think you are right about the female Pintail, but I've spent too much time inland to sharpen my sandpiper skills.

Lovely surroundings and beautiful birds!
Great captures of the Snowy Egrets ,the Great Egrets, the swans and the Yellow-rumped Warblers !

Happy Weekend!
...another wonderful collection of feathered friends, thank for hosting.
dear Eileen, I love every one of your bird photos. Reminds me of the waterways Grant and I visited regularly in Tanzania! Thanks for hosting this meme. Have a great day. Jo
What a marvellous reserve, Eileen! A wealth of wildlife and beautiful photos as usual.
A beautiful and stunning array of bird life :-) Have a wonderful weekend Eileen and thanks for visiting and leaving a comment at my blog.
PS: Thanks for hosting and enjoy your Sunday, Eileen.
If I am not mistaken this reserve used to be called the Brigantine NWR many years ago. If that is true Inince spent a wonderful weekend there.
It's always a pleasure to see the Egrets. Lovely collection of critters Eileen, thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend.
What a fruitful visit you had! Really well done.
Have a great week, Eileen!
your pictures have inspired me to take a trip here, although with the cold temperatures, i would have to wait for a warmer day or plan to bundle up. this is a trail you can drive?? that would work well for me!!
it is always fun to see the yellow rumped warblers...i will have to look up "butter-butt" in my new book!! i have been seeing so many swans, i was so surprised to see some young ones the other day!
are the egrets still here?? i thought they were a migrating large bird - they look so pretty with the tall grasses!!
i am really "into" ducks right now, our lakes around here are getting filled with those that migrate here!!

A wonderful outing shared again! Hope your weekend is a great one! YAM xx
I have a terrible time with IDs because of juveniles and seasonal changes. Love those sweet Warblers. We have lots coming to Fl now! Hope you can help me with my big id today. Enjoy your weekend! Hugs!
Hi Eileen, such wonderful photos. I always get a kick out the some of the bird names, such as "shoveler." Named for what they do with their beaks, I assume. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Enjoy the weekend.
To see swans would be awesome!! But I must admit, that egret in the field with the sunlight is my favorite!
Love the swans and I see the cute yellow rump in he bottom right square of the collage.
I love seeing the Warblers, Eileen. I seem to hear them but rarely spot them in the trees and never get pics!
Wonderful birds swimming, I do love Snowy Egret, fantastic.
What a beautiful place to go exploring! So peaceful looking and relaxing.
Looks like another successful bird watching trip!
Glad to see the Snowy Egret and Great Egret together! It helps me with size comparison - Thanks!
I enjoy seeing all the birds!
Have a wonderful weekend!
You had a very windy day for your visit. I like the egret with its feathers blowing in the wind.
Great captures. Like the swans.
Another wonderful nature photo op for you both and now us! Beautiful photos!
Happy Day to you,
A ShutterBug Explores,

Butter-butt - LOL!!! Love this selection of birdies … Thanks for hosting, Eileen!
A good Saturday morning to you Eileen! Another great Saturday's Critters here. I love the way you and your hubby travel around and visit the NWRs, snap pics, and share them here. You guys inspire me! Have a happy weekend and take good care! John
wonderful share, always like to shoot birds. It is thinning down here, many flew south.
What a nice place for bird watching. I like the Northern Shoveler...a duck like that exists here in Garda lake, but I do not have any photo, yet.
Have a great weekend!
Good morning Eileen. It's good to join in again today. Thanks for allowing everyone to do the same. It was good to see those two egrets side by side for the size comparison. Butter butts I like. Good fun name.
the egrets are my favourites too,. but how could I leave out all the others, they are equally beautiful. What a great place to stay close to.
You caught the heron at just the right moment.
Always a pleasure to see the water birds. Great photos and glad you had a lovely visit to NJ!
Thanks for hosting.
Happy WE, Eileen.
Another fun outing and collection of photos! The wind has been a bit brutal, I hope it was a warm enough day for you to be out - I seem to recall, that unlike today with that chilly north wind, it was. But I always love seeing the Egrets, they always look so stoic and focused.
Hope all is well with you, and you're staying warm on this chilly day!
Beautiful shots! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
All pictures of my favorite birds. Love that second shot of the egrets!
Fun to see the waterfowl...I always enjoying seeing them.
Such a lovely collection of critters here, I think my favourite is the Egrets.
Happy Weekend Wishes.
All the best Jan
Looks like a great place! Eight miles is a generous length for a wildlife road.
Looks like a wonderful place and marsh to watch birds and nice seeing and learning on birds of your country. Cute collage on warbler :)
Happy Sunday
As I stated yesterday, my favorite is the egret in the sun!
It's been great to go with you on a birdin' adventure this week from The Bird D'pot. Thanks for taking us along.
Your birds look so innocent and peace-loving!
Lovely pictures of our beautiful nature..
Beautiful photo's
That open water is lovely. My pond has frozen over!
Lovely outing with the birdies.
A beautiful walk. Shorebirds are so hard to ID! I recognize dunlin when they fly because when we lived at the lake we'd see the whole group of them swooping past (but always way too far out for a decent picture). We stayed at a very nice casino on the Oregon Coast this past summer -- got a really good deal there as well.
(And we don't gamble -- like for you probably, it was a great headquarters for getting out and seeing nature!!
What a great place to get all those birds, let alone the fresh air and sunshine, Eileen!!...:)JP
so nice to see unspoiled nature. Love the waders in particular. Hardly seen any at all this year :(
