Happy Thankful Thursday!
I have been happy watching my yard birds, recently I have had a lot of Purple Finches at my feeders. The male is a pretty raspberry color.
I have been seeing more American Goldfinches lately. I sweep the dropped seeds on my deck into a pile and the birds and squirrels just eat it up.
I am thankful to see my Hummingbirds return for the season. April 19th it seems they returned earlier this year?
This is my view of the Great Blue herons from my kitchen window. I counted 6 herons in one tree. There are more herons and nest in different trees.

Expressing appreciation and being thankful can reduce depression, lower blood pressure, increase energy and happiness, and even prolong your life! Gratitude also increases the feel-good neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin and helps you deflect those negative thoughts. This sounds good to me!
Just a few things I am thankful for: a new book, a pretty sunrise/sunset, the kindness of strangers, memories of our trips, visiting new places. I could go on and on.
I am thankful for all your visits and comments.
Thank you Michelle for hosting Thankful Thursday.

Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteYou are really lucky who can watch all theese birds in your yard! The Herons and the Hummingbirds are so beautiful. Pretty shot of the Pink moon.

Send a couple of Purple Finches my way, will you? It's a couple of years since I saw one. Had ten House Finches in my backyard yesterday, though.

Beautiful birds and moon!
ReplyDeleteI don’t even see great blue herons fly over my house. You are so lucky to be able to see them from your kitchen window’
ReplyDeleteBeautiful moon shots Eileen. I saw our first hummer last week...about a week later than last year. Great birds. Ahhh, to have so many herons nesting. I can only dream!
ReplyDelete6 herons just outside your window! My record, 12 squirrels raiding our feeders at once.
ReplyDeleteHej Eileen!

Blue herons look very awkward in the trees. we usually think of small birds flitting from branch to branch.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have hummingbirds and herons in your garden. Wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great weekend ahead. God bless you all.
It's nice seeing the hummingbirds, they are beautiful. Lovely moon photos, you take great shots of the moon.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
Nice pics Eileen. I have never seen the Blue Herons in the trees or walking on branches. I only see them near or around the lake. Guess I better keep my eyes open for a sighting.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying some gold finches here too. That rasberry color is delightful. I have three baby robins in the nest on my windowsill. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovely series of photos Eileen and I am envious that you have a tree full of herons next to your house. I used to get a lot more House Finches but only get one or two now. I saw one in the spring and also a Goldfinch which I hoped was the harbinger of more to follow but sadly that was it. Loved your moon shots!
ReplyDeletemagnifique série de photo. j'aime particulièrement cette gigantesque lune
ReplyDeleteLoved those facts you've copied from google about 'expressing appreciation and being thankful'
ReplyDeleteYou've taken and shared some amazing photographs here.
The moon is wonderful, so too the heron on the branch and the lovely coloured purple finches, a lovely post.
All the best Jan
Thankful for great photos of the birds...
ReplyDeleteYour deck provides quite a show - love the pretty American gold finches. They're so bright and cheerful. Your moon shots are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love that google quote. It sure makes a difference in our lives when we are thankful. I remember keeping a gratitude journal years ago when Oprah talked about it. Love those Herons...wow! You've got a lot of them to keep an eye on! Enjoy your afternoon!
ReplyDeletemagnificent moon shots and delightful 'feather friends' shots too!

ReplyDeleteThat lone great blue heron is my favourite of these shots.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful moons -- and I stand in awe of your herons!
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty cool that you can see that many herons from your kitchen window AND I am glad you circled them all, or I would have missed one! Thanks for linking up today and always. I hope you have the best weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, Wow ... 6 herons in that one tree ... amazing! Enjoyed all the photos ... birds and moon. On Google Maps I looked up Prettyboy Reservoir and looked at the satellite view. That is absolutely beautiful country! I admire all that space! Thankful for all your posts. Have a happy day and great weekend ahead. John
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful view from your kitchen window! Thank you for sharing the information on gratitude. I certainly believe a thankful attitude confers many benefits, both emotional and physical.
ReplyDeleteGood shots.

ReplyDeleteThe heron walking the branch is priceless.
Seems so funny to be able to see a Great Blue heron out your kitchen window!! I always think of them of rare, exotic birds. Stunning moon shots!
ReplyDeleteThe hummingbirds are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos as usual. I love the herons in the trees. It makes for a remarkable sight. I love your finches. There is a small area on our RiverParks area of Tulsa that always has lots of finches and I can't figure it out as the area has been seriously redone several times and yet they reappear every year.
ReplyDeleteWow, six herons and hummingbirds so soon!
ReplyDeleteFabulous shots of the moon - and what sweet birds!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that I know about your blog and that I enjoy your wonderful photographs of critters. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeletePretty and colourful birds visiting your yard. Great shot of the pink moon. Happy weekend!

ReplyDeleteall of a sudden, i have been seeing a lot of gold finches, mine are pretty easy to photograph. i can't wait until the boys are their full bright yellow!!
that's an awesome quote from google!!!
That heron rookery is so amazing.wonderful birds. Love the quote. .... I once took a Yoga class where the teacher suggested thinking of three things to be grateful for just as soon as you wake up.sbd I try to remember that ...it sets the tone for the day! (Of course, she also suggested Yoga stretches before breakfast ....that part is harder!)
ReplyDeleteI would love to have that heron rookery to watch. Of course, I might not get anything else done.
