Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

I have been happy watching my yard birds, recently I have had a lot of Purple Finches at my feeders. The male is a pretty raspberry color.

I have been seeing more American Goldfinches lately. I sweep the dropped seeds on my deck into a pile and the birds and squirrels  just eat it up.

I am thankful to see my Hummingbirds return for the season.  April 19th it seems they returned earlier this year?

This is my view of the Great Blue herons from my kitchen window.  I counted 6 herons in one tree. There are more herons and nest in different trees.

April's Full Pink Moon.

Did you know (copied from google)
Expressing appreciation and being thankful can reduce depression, lower blood pressure, increase energy and happiness, and even prolong your life! Gratitude also increases the feel-good neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin and helps you deflect those negative thoughts.  This sounds good to me!

Just a few things I am thankful for: a new book, a pretty sunrise/sunset, the kindness of strangers, memories of our trips, visiting new places. I could go on and on.

am thankful for all your visits and comments.

Thank you Michelle for hosting Thankful Thursday
Thank you to Yogi the host of   Skywatch Friday

  10. Hej Eileen!

Finkarna är verkligen vackra, vi har finkar här också men ingen med denna vackra färgskrud, väldigt speciell.

Och hägern i trädet, den spatserar så elegant
Fint foto av fullmånen, det måste jag pröva någon gång.

  11. Blue herons look very awkward in the trees. we usually think of small birds flitting from branch to branch.

  14. Nice pics Eileen. I have never seen the Blue Herons in the trees or walking on branches. I only see them near or around the lake. Guess I better keep my eyes open for a sighting.

  15. I am enjoying some gold finches here too. That rasberry color is delightful. I have three baby robins in the nest on my windowsill. Have a wonderful weekend.

  16. Lovely series of photos Eileen and I am envious that you have a tree full of herons next to your house. I used to get a lot more House Finches but only get one or two now. I saw one in the spring and also a Goldfinch which I hoped was the harbinger of more to follow but sadly that was it. Loved your moon shots!

  31. Great photos as usual. I love the herons in the trees. It makes for a remarkable sight. I love your finches. There is a small area on our RiverParks area of Tulsa that always has lots of finches and I can't figure it out as the area has been seriously redone several times and yet they reappear every year.

  44. That heron rookery is so amazing.wonderful birds. Love the quote. .... I once took a Yoga class where the teacher suggested thinking of three things to be grateful for just as soon as you wake up.sbd I try to remember that ...it sets the tone for the day! (Of course, she also suggested Yoga stretches before breakfast ....that part is harder!)

  45. I would love to have that heron rookery to watch. Of course, I might not get anything else done.
