Limberlost Trail and Big Meadows @ Shenandoah

Happy Monday everyone!

I am sharing some more images from our last trip to Shenandoah Nat'l Park. On this day we hiked the Hawksbill Trail first and then we went to the Big Meadows and the Limberlost Trail. We did some walking on this day!

The flowers below were seen all along the Skyline Drive, such a cheery sight to see.

We saw a few White-tailed deer on the Big Meadows.

There were some pretty roadside daylilies along the Skyline Drive.

The Limberlost Trail is one of my favorite, easy flat walking. Usually this trail is great to see the Hooded Warbler, Redstart, Towhee and the Scarlet Tanager seen below bottom right.

Another bird I saw on the Limberlost trail was this Black and White Warbler. They move along the tree like the Nuthatches.

Black and White Warbler.

I hope you will visit the following memes and links. I'll see you there.

  3. Obviously a great walk and a fine location to spot warblers. We are just north of the Hooded Warbler's range and it is a rarity here.

  25. The warbler, it blends into the bark so well, and a seat along the trail, that is a super setting for your pic.

  26. It should be called a red and white warbler. I thought it was a ruby tanager. We live on the other end, on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

  32. Eileen - fabulous views of Shenandoah and its wildlife. Particularly intrigued by the black and white warbler. I will have to pay more attention to our nuthatches and make sure that I am not just assuming its a nuthatch by the way it moves. I looked it up and we do have these warblers here, but they are a species of concern. Thanks as always for linking to Mosaic Monday!

  51. Hello! I send an invitation for Blogger's Sunday Walk to everyone who has joined some time ago. Participating has now become easier via InLinkz. The intention is the same: “to detach” bloggers from the computer screen for a while to use their legs, and then share the experiences of the trip. There will be an unpretentious photo assignment as well. Would have been really nice if you join us the last Sunday in October. I intend to have a post the Monday before to inform about BSW Fall 2019. Welcome, best regards Vilt og vakkert.
Here you can see the latest arrangement BSW Summer 2019:

You still walk and take brilliant photos, so I hope to see you on BSW this October ;:OD), please spread the invitation !

  55. Was the Limberlost Trail named for "A Girl of the Limberlost". From your photos, I imagine the character walking along. The book was written at the turn of the 20th century. The story based in a forest in Indiana. I think the main character would've loved your blog.
