Happy Thankful Thursday!

 Happy Thankful Thursday!

I am thankful for some warm sunny days.  😊  I am thankful and appreciate the beauty around me.

Ignoring the chances of catching the virus on March 8-10 hubby and I decided to take a short trip. We went to the Delaware Shore and Ocean City Md.  We waited for months (Jan & Feb) for the weather to be just right for our getaway.  We visited Bombay Hook Nat'l Wildlife Refuge, Delaware's Indian River Inlet seaside park, Ocean City, Assateague Island Nat'l Seashore and last but not least the Blackwater Nat'l Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Md.

These are images from March 8th taken at Bombay Hook NWR and the Indian River Inlet Seaside Park. Click on photos for larger viewing.

Below a large group of American Avocets and two Bald Eagles if you can find them in the tree tops.

A closer look at the American Avocets and a couple of Northern Pintail ducks.

The colorful Northern Shovelers with Northern Pintail ducks.

I felt lucky to find this one Sandhill Crane at Bombay Hook NWR. It was standing not far off from a Great Blue Heron.

Me and my shadow, surfers in the distance. Temps in the mid 50's to low 60's and windy.

We saw a lot of the Long-tailed Ducks at the Indian River Inlet.

 Indian River Inlet bridge.

Surfers at the Indian River Inlet Seashore.

I am thankful for a great getaway, walks on the beaches and watching the birds. Fingers crossed hubby and I do not get the virus. Take care and I hope everyone is well.  May good health envelope you!

I am thankful for my reading time and books.
My latest read library ebook: James Patterson's, The Big Bad Wolf # 9 in the Alex Cross series.
Currently reading Karin Slaughter's,  Fallen  # 5 in the Will Trent series.

I am always thankful for your visits and comments.
Live simple and be happy!  😊

Thank you Michelle for hosting Thankful Thursday

Shovelers are such interesting birds. How do they manage with such a huge bill?

Great photos!

So glad you brought home beautiful photos of birds, bridge and surfers! Sorry I wondered about where you were yesterday...it was only Wed. I finally figured out. See, I was looking forward to this post!

I think it was well worth the trip! I did not see one single Sandhill Crane this year...not even flying over.

Your first three photos are showing up fine. Beautiful to be out and about in the great outdoors. I’m assuming that being out in nature is far safer right now than being at crowded social gatherings or even a busy mall. Take care!

50 to 60 would be a good temperature. Being outdoors anyplace would probably be a very safe place to beat corona virus..

It does feel risky to travel but at least when we get out in nature, we can stay healthy. I'm encouraging my family to get outside and take a walk instead of shop and go to restaurants! Love those Eagles high in the tree and the Crane is a neat sighting! Your shadows are neat. Why do our husbands always look so tall and thin though! lol Hugs!

eileeninmd said...

Hello Marie, the Shovelers do have a large bill. They manage well, we saw a lot of them at the refuge.
Thanks and I hope your day is great!

eileeninmd said...

Thanks Barbara! It felt nice to take short trip and get outside. Enjoy your day!

Thanks Diane, we did have some great sightings. I had a big thick coat on, it still felt cold on the beach.

Great photos, I also love the bridge. I'm an engineer (not a civil engineer) and I know the equations and things at work here but it is still a marvelous thing to behold.

Really nice pictures! I love the Sandhill Crane. One of my friends lives in Chesapeake City, MD and she frequently goes to Bombay Hook. She has snapped some really nice pictures of foxes there! Glad you were able to get away.

Delightful captures!
Why is it called Bombay (erstwhile name of Mumbai) Hook?

I hear to avoid crowds of 100 or more. Does MD have cases? Be careful out there. Love going with you on your trip.
