Happy Monday everyone!
We are doing good here. I hope everyone is doing well, healthy and happy! Things are as normal as they can be in this situation. I have my yard birds to help entertain me..
The Great Blue Herons seem to be doing well, I am not sure how many nests we have in our neighborhood. Maybe 6-8 herons nest, more could be more hidden.
The Hairy Woodpeckers enjoy the suet feeders. I also am seeing the Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker and a Northern Flicker in my yard and at my feeders.
My winter birds are still here and I am seeing a few of my summer birds. I have a few Dark-eyed Juncos, White-throated Sparrow, the Chipping Sparrow has returned and I am seeing the Pine Warbler often at my suet feeders.
I am still seeing Dark-eyed Juncos as of 3/25/20
Resident Carolina Chickadee..
Local Great Blue Herons on nest.
Leucistic Song Sparrow was seen on my deck.
On left the winter White-throated Sparrow and on the right the spring/summer Chipping Sparrow seen together on 3/22/20
I am happy with the variety of birds I can see from my deck and windows. BTW, all these photos are from my windows except for the GB Herons which were seen from the local fire road. It is the opposite view of the heron's nest I see from our yard.

ReplyDeleteNice to see all these visitores of your garden. Nice pictures.
It's a strange time at this moment to live with these restrictions.
Greetings, Marco
Hello Marco, these are strange times. All the restrictions and the empty store shelves. They are things we are not used to. Take care and have a great new week!
DeleteIt's good to hear you're doing OK Eileen. Us birdwatchers have something that we care deeply about in these difficult times and it is important to remember that we will come out of this mess stronger and more determined. You are very fortunate to have so many species in your back yard and the Great Blue herons so visible from your house. Nice work. Stay safe.

DeleteThe Herons really are something to see! We need to pay more attention to where they may be nesting at one on the trail where we see them the most. I'm watching birds on our feeders this morning too. A little House Finch is there right now! Take care of yourself my friend and stay healthy!
ReplyDeleteHello Diane, you should be seeing the chicks down there, I think they nest ahead of the birds here. Thank you so much for the comment and visit! Take care, wishing you a great week ahead!

Eileen, glad all is well! You have such a wonderful nature show of birds right outside your windows! That heron photo is gorgeous. We have more squirrels than birds in our yard and they are also entertaining to watch as they scamper around looking for food everyday.

DeleteGreat Blue Herons are such interesting birds, and you cannot mistake them when they are calling. Good news, I finally got some critter pictures for Saturday. After all our walks in the forests and parks we saw two deer right here in the city next to our condo. They were far away, but at least I got a shot before the ran away. - Margy
ReplyDeleteHello, Margy! Congrats on the deer sighting. We do not see them often here, they spook easily.
DeleteThank you so much for the comment and visit! Take care, wishing you a great week ahead!
Beautiful photos, Eileen. I saw my first Cowbirds at my feeders this morning. Deadbeat parents, I think!

ReplyDeleteHello Amy, thank you, stay well! Have a great week ahead!
DeleteNot much happening down here, the whole country is in total lockdown apart from essential services. The heron's nest, what a feat to build that up there, and make it big enough for mum and babies later on.
ReplyDeleteHello Nancy, it is much the same happening here with the lockdown. Stay well! Have a great week ahead!
DeleteHow nice that you have so many heron nests around you. I only see the one heron around here once in a while.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos.
Hello, Karen
DeleteThank you, stay well! Have a great week ahead!
There is a lot of life right outside our back door and your post highlights that perfectly. It's nice to see the overlap of the winter and summer birds.
ReplyDeleteHi Sondra, it is nice to see both winter and summer birds here. Thank you, stay well! Have a great week ahead!

Deleteso lucky you are to have so many birds visiting your yard. We only have a few varieties. Take care and enjoy the outdoors as much as you can. Spring must be on the way for you. Happy days.
ReplyDeleteHi Jill,
DeleteThank you, stay well! Have a great week ahead!
Eileen the herons are truly spectacular. It still blows my mind that they live in your neighborhood. I keep hoping for more spring birds at our feeders, but they are slow in coming. Maybe it's because it snowed again today! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
ReplyDeleteHello Angie,
DeleteThankfully no snow here. Thank you, stay well! Have a great week ahead!
Wow - what fabulous bird shots!

Here comes my favorite herons perching on trees! I'm always so amazed by them Eileen! I really hope I can see them someday in person. But those cute little sparrows, we have a lot of those here in the Philippines :) We call them "Maya" birds. Stay Safe Eileen and thanks for always keeping us close to nature and its flying citizens!
ReplyDeleteStevenson
Hi, Eileen. Birds were chirping outside the window while I was looking at your photos. It got me wondering what kind of birds were out there. Hidden herons in the neighborhood would make for a cute story, don't you think? :-) Take care and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteyou are still blogging ... hope u r well with all that is going on. take care and as always i really enjoy your views. byeee. ( ;
ReplyDeleteYour heron takes my breath away. I haven't seen Harry yet this year. Soon, I hope!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen! There is a lot of nest building going on right now - And what a rare and wonderful treat for you to have the herings around! We'll have to settle for the Eastern Phoebe's who have built a nest above our garage door, and I'm thrilled!! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures Eileen.. Take care...
ReplyDeletethe pictures of the herons today are really special eileen, fantastic to say the least!! i have seen very few this winter and i suppose the egrets will be back soon!!! i never saw any junco's this winter, not even one and i missed them so much!!
ReplyDeletei am seeing a lot of woodpeckers but i have not seen any flickers. another one i love, and see occasionally, but not in 2020!!! my birds are keeping me entertained, but it's been so cloudy and rainy here for pictures. the sun is suppose to come out today!! stay safe and well eileen, we are so lucky to have this hobby that we can enjoy from home!!!
Lovely capture of birds and glad you enjoy bird watching from your deck and walk into woods. Loved the blue heron mosic!

Great post, loved all the birds. Enjoy the rest of your week and in good health for many to come :)
