Our World, My World

 Happy Monday everyone!

We are doing good here. I hope everyone is doing well, healthy and happy! Things are as normal as they can be in this situation. I have my yard birds to help entertain me..

The Great Blue Herons seem to be doing well, I am not sure how many nests we have in our neighborhood. Maybe 6-8 herons nest, more could be more hidden.

The Hairy Woodpeckers enjoy the suet feeders. I also am seeing the Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker and a Northern Flicker in my yard and at my feeders.

My winter birds are still here and I am seeing a few of my summer birds. I have a few Dark-eyed Juncos, White-throated Sparrow, the Chipping Sparrow has returned and I am seeing the Pine Warbler often at my suet feeders.

I am still seeing Dark-eyed Juncos as of 3/25/20

Resident Carolina Chickadee..

Local Great Blue Herons on nest.

Leucistic Song Sparrow was seen on my deck.

On left the winter White-throated Sparrow and on the right the spring/summer Chipping Sparrow seen together on 3/22/20

I am happy with the variety of birds I can see from my deck and windows.  BTW, all these photos are from my windows except for the GB Herons which were seen from the local fire road. It is the opposite view of the heron's nest I see from our yard.

What's happening in your corner of the world? Please check out and visit the following memes and links. I hope to see you there.

Another delight of feathers from you Eileen - being incarcerated as we are here, I have had no photo ops in quite a while and again for the foreseeable future. Our blogging network will be the uplift needed! YAM xx

Our herons have reoccupied the heronry and there is lots of noise and activity. It's good to see them back for another year.

It's good to hear you're doing OK Eileen. Us birdwatchers have something that we care deeply about in these difficult times and it is important to remember that we will come out of this mess stronger and more determined. You are very fortunate to have so many species in your back yard and the Great Blue herons so visible from your house. Nice work. Stay safe.

Like you, we still are having winter birds hanging around (and feeding), but also spring ones are coming in. Morning birdsong is LOUD! Love the blue herons.

The Herons really are something to see! We need to pay more attention to where they may be nesting at one on the trail where we see them the most. I'm watching birds on our feeders this morning too. A little House Finch is there right now! Take care of yourself my friend and stay healthy!

Funny how chipping sparrows and their relatives don't visit feeders here.

Eileen, glad all is well! You have such a wonderful nature show of birds right outside your windows! That heron photo is gorgeous. We have more squirrels than birds in our yard and they are also entertaining to watch as they scamper around looking for food everyday.

Great Blue Herons are such interesting birds, and you cannot mistake them when they are calling. Good news, I finally got some critter pictures for Saturday. After all our walks in the forests and parks we saw two deer right here in the city next to our condo. They were far away, but at least I got a shot before the ran away. - Margy

I think the herons are neat sitting up in trees like shags building nests, hope you are all good there, stay safe.

Not much happening down here, the whole country is in total lockdown apart from essential services. The heron's nest, what a feat to build that up there, and make it big enough for mum and babies later on.

HappyK said...

How nice that you have so many heron nests around you. I only see the one heron around here once in a while.
Great photos.

There is a lot of life right outside our back door and your post highlights that perfectly. It's nice to see the overlap of the winter and summer birds.

Eileen the herons are truly spectacular. It still blows my mind that they live in your neighborhood. I keep hoping for more spring birds at our feeders, but they are slow in coming. Maybe it's because it snowed again today! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
