Happy Monday everyone!
I hope this will be a peaceful week in our country. No more wild times in DC. People need to check the facts before they spread lies and conspiracies. No more chants yelling "fight" or "hang pence" or trying to hurt our elected officials. I do not condone violence of any kind, I am sick to watch more and more videos of the Capitol Building being attacked on Jan 6th.
Hubby and I are going on with our usual activities, nothing too exciting lately.. On the good days we are outside going for a walk and we do our food shopping and the usual chores. I like cooking, but do miss eating out at my favorite restaurants. Carry-out is ok but it is just not the same.
1. Here are some photos from the past week, scenes from our walks. On Jan 9th we were walking on the NCR bike trail. It was a cold sunny morning, temps were in the high 20's or 30°.
2. I noticed a flock of Eastern Bluebird eating berries from a bush along side the trail.
3. Icicles were hanging from a rocky section next to the trail.
4. A small waterfall seen off the NCR trail.
5. Can you find Me and my shadow among the shadows of the trees.
When we arrived at the bike trail parking lot we noticed a group of girls ( maybe girl scouts) wearing helmets greeting a pack of sled dogs. The girls were going to go for a sled ride and the dogs were so excited.
I will share more photos of these sled dogs on a future Saturday Critter post. Maryland's COVID positivity rate is still going up. The rate when I made this post is 7.3%. A rate of 5% or below is considered a little more safe.
Please keep wearing your mask and keep your distance! Take care, stay safe!

Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteYes, the news have been terrible lately. I hope your country will get better in the future.
Beautiful photos, and yes I saw your shadow :)
Have a great new week!
Thank you Marit!
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
Hi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteTerrible what is happening in your country, really not normal.
The pictures are beautiful, the icicles are also beautiful, it is cold here but not really winter except in the south of the country there is snow, and nothing at all here.
Watch out and stay healthy.
Thank you Irma,
DeleteIt is terrible, actually frightening.
Take care, have a great new week!
Yes, I found you and your shadow...one of whom had his hand raised, I imagine to show you/us something wonderful! I love seeing your cold pics...not that I love cold, but being outdoors is still quite possible with the correct attire I've found. When I stay inside (on days with cold rain usually) I really miss the fresh air activities, as tame as walking may be!
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara!
DeleteI thought the shadows blended in with the trees.
The walks on nice days with fresh air is nice!
Take care, have a great new week!
I am horrified and heartbroken watching what's been going on in the news, and of course Covid just raging out of control too. We are living in scary times. Your photos are gorgeous Eileen. It looks way too cold for me! Stay safe and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Martha!
DeleteThese are heartbreaking times for our country.
Take care, have a great new week!
Brrrr. Icicles. The coldest place in Costa Rica is our freezer!

Our positivity rate is 15% but things are reopening bit by bit..I think it's an economic decision.I miss eating out as well although our restaurants are open 50%..I still wouldn't feel safe..Will I ever??Enjoyed your pictures..Have a great week..
ReplyDeleteThank you Missy!
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
I was devastated to witness what happened at our US Capitol last week, Eileen. It was a building we visited often when our son attended college in Washington DC. The violence and level of hate was shocking and scary. My heart hurts thinking of how divided our country is right now. Nature is very healing to the soul and I enjoyed your photos. Let's pray for healing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat!
DeleteOur country does need to unite.
Nature is healing to the soul!
Take care, have a great new week!
I love getting out in nature too. I'm not hiding from the world but it's a good calming break. We have lots of bright bluebirds right now as if they are in breeding color. I love these beautiful dogs too! Enjoy your day! Those icicles look COLD!
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane!
DeleteThe bluebirds are beautiful. It is cold here!
Take care, have a great new week!
COVID is really running rampant. I hear talk of this second wave, but I am not sure any more whether one can differentiate between waves or the various mutant strains. Can you imagine how much it must have spread amongst those terrorists who laid siege to the Capitol. There was hardly a mask in sight. If COVID is looking for a home, what better place.......
ReplyDeleteThanks David! Yes, I agree about Covid landing in the home of these terrorists. It is a good place!
DeleteHave a happy day and week ahead!
Seeing the sled dogs must have been fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dee!
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
So unusual to see sled dogs. It would be here anyway. Those are great shadows. It is good you can continue to get outside.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie! It was neat seeing the sled dogs, I did not know the sled rides were available here.
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
I'm buying groceries at 7:00 Am, walking three miles or so and watching the big pileated woodpecker. He spent about 30 minutes on the fat this morning. Now it's time to make lunch.
ReplyDeleteThanks Red! It is great to see the Pileated woodie!
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
We had a dog like that when I was a child. I miss her!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandi! I miss all my old dogs!
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
Very nice album
ReplyDeleteThank you! Take care, have a great new week!
DeleteI love seeing the bluebird. The last dog I had was a sled dog and she was so much fun. It's been 12 years now and I still miss her Enjoy your new week, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bill! I miss my dogs too.
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
Oh those dogs are gorgeous, they look like our Charlie. I'm sure before we rescued her, Charlie must have been a sled dog pack leader, boy can she pull lol! Beautiful photos Eileen :) I love the icicles!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rain! The dogs were pretty, very anxious to start running.
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
I love your shadow photo! There’s something comforting about that picture, Eileen. Happy and safe trails to you. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Su-sieee!
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
I hope there is no more trouble and Trump disappears from the radar quickly, I also hope he is impeached so he can not run again...goof you are able to get out and enjoy a hike..
ReplyDeleteThank you Sondra!
DeleteIt seems he is a poor loser, I can't wait to see him gone.
Take care, have a great new week!
I always enjoy seeing your shadows. Fun. Glad you got some sunshine for your walk. Happy new week to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen!

ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I love the wee bluebird.
Thank you Andrea!
DeleteI hope you have a happy 2021.
Take care, have a great new week!
It makes me sad seeing all the unrest going on at the moment in your beautiful country. I find it hard to understand how some people can be so filled with hatred and prejudice and violence.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness we have nature to bring us peace and happiness.
Take care and stay safe, Mxx
Thank you Mxx!
DeleteYes, nature does bring me happiness.
Take care, have a great new week!
Always so nice to see the pictures you talk along your walks. Yes, I did spot you and your shadow!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen!
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
Eileen - I share your sentiments about last week's events.
ReplyDeleteI love the bluebird photo. As you know, we have been on a dog sled ride and have given them to others, so I am very familiar with how excited the dogs get. Was the sled in your photo on wheels? Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
Thank you Angie!
DeleteThey have multiple sled, both on wheels and regular sleds.
Take care, have a great new week!
What shocking, horrible scenes at the Capitol building! I saw the video of Schwarzenegger’s powerful message, which made me in tears. I’m happy that you showed us these peaceful scenes including icicles, Eastern Bluebird. Yes, I saw you with someone posing cheerfully among the trees. Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteYoko
Thank you Yoko!

Beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week ahead.
Thank you! Take care, have a great new week!

ReplyDeleteMy fav is the icicles - beautiful!
Thank you Iris!
DeleteI would rather not see or hear from him again too.

So sad to see what is happening in USA, both politically and healthwise. We are so very lucky here in South Australia. Stay safe and enjoy your lovely countryside. It is in the mid 30s here too - but centigrade, not farenheit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Liz! Yes, I am both sad and scared for our country right now.
DeleteI am looking forward to a warm spring day. Take care, enjoy your day!
I can just see your shadow.
ReplyDeleteThank you William, for the comment!

A walk on a winter's day, it doesn't get much better than that.
ReplyDeleteThank you Inger!
DeleteTake care, have a great new week!
It was great to see all the things you saw on your walk, although it looks cold, it was sunny. Here in Portugal it is the coldest winter we have ever had. Had to break the ice on the bird bath this morning. Your shadow photos always makes me smile,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the visit and comment.
DeleteTake care, stay warm and safe.
Have a happy day and week ahead.
Great photographs but todays favourite is the one with icicles.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy this new week.
All the best Jan
Thank you Jan!
DeleteHave a great day!
Hello Eileen, I agree, and I pray all goes well with those crazy and brazen trump loyalists you just can't know. I really fear having Biden and Harris walk the streets in Washington, even though they said it would be much limited. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen!
DeleteI pray Biden and Harris will be safe, the cult followers are dangerous!
Have a happy day!
My corner of the world is pretty boring. Thankfully. Just staying close to home these days. Love your walk with such interesting photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann!
DeleteWe are staying home mostly too, a few local walks for some fresh air.
Have a happy day and week ahead.
Yes I reckon getting out (safely and when we can) and away from the TV is the key to getting through this month! Nature is always so calming and I always love to see your little birds
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week Eileen!
Wren x
Thank You Wren!
DeleteYes, I have been following the news too much, it is crazy.
Have a happy day and week ahead!
Thanks for visiting and posting on my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave! Enjoy your day!
DeleteNice shots from your morning walk, and it's always refreshing to walk into the sun when the weather was cold. I hope the covid ratio reduces soon in America. The vaccination is gonna begin in India and would be injected shortly to frontline health workers on emergence purpose and would be extended for public soon.
ReplyDeleteHope you too get the vaccine soon.
Take care
Thank you Jeevan!
DeleteTake care, stay safe!
Have a happy week!
We have been watching it all here too. Our vaccine comes out later this year, I guess the powers that be are making sure it's safe and it works first.
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy!
DeleteYes, I think the vaccine is safe, they just need more doses distributed.
Take care, have a happy weekend!
lol, I have seen icicles too this last week. Not sure why but they always makes me feel great. They are so beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a good thing to have nature to escape politics and pandemic for at least a few hours. :)
Right now Sweden is beautiful in a white carpet. :) Earlier today it was the fluffy snow that you can blow away. I love it!
:)
Thank you Monica!
DeleteIt is relaxing to get outdoors, take a walk and breath the fresh air.
Take care, have a happy weekend!
You have such beautiful scenes in your area of USA! That icicle image is my favorite today
