Happy Monday!
I am continuing with some of my favorite National Park visits and archived photos. Hubby and I are not traveling as of yet, we are waiting for the vaccine and to feel safe. I feel like a LONG road trip is in our future, post Covid times of course! Mean time I have some virtual visits and memories of our country's beautiful National Parks.
1. Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, hubby taking a break at the lake, I stayed behind and watched hubby climb the steps to the top, one of the many elk we saw in the park, a Grouse was seen next to the road.
2. Moose seen from the trail, a young moose was taking a drink from the river.
3. This is a view of Alberta Falls, one of the most prominent waterfalls in Rocky Mtn NP.
4. A herd of Elk in the Rocky National Park not far from the town of Estes Park Colorado.
5. Some of the Rocky Mountain NP birds seen during our visit, the Black-billed Magpie, Lincoln Sparrow, Pygmy Nuthatch, Barn Swallows, Mountain Bluebird and Dusky Grouse.
6. Great Smoky Mtn NP Tennessee: Grotto Falls, Dark-eyed Junco, Autumn colors, Cades Cove horses, Wild Turkey, behind Grotto Falls, Autumn colors, deer, view of Cades Cove.
7. Elk herd, Great Smoky Mtn NP
8. Laurel Falls, Great Smoky Mtn NP Tennessee
9. Black Bears were plentiful along the Roaring Fork Motor Trail in the Great Smokies.
10. Autumn colors in the Great Smokies, a beautiful sight.
Please keep wearing your mask and keep your distance! Be safe, stay safe!

DeleteI would hazard a guess that long road trips are not in the cards for this year. The vaccine is getting rolled out but it seems to be painfully slow and sporadic. I think it will be quite a while before we are comfortable checking into a motel again.
ReplyDeleteThank you David! I was hoping the vaccine would be rolled out faster. Have a happy day!
DeleteQue lindas todas tuas fotos e que bom tens grande arquivo delas. Realmente com a vacina, após as doses todas, teremos mais segurança.Enquanto isso... Esperar é preciso! bjs, linda semana, chica

the baby bear is an awwww moment, I love the moose. they are so big and ugly and beautiful. I might die of joy if I saw all this. and snap myself silly... thanks for the up close view of the grouse, gives a good view of what it looks like. my hubby grew up hunting with his dad, they fed the family that way. since he married me he is no longer a hunter
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra!

The silky touch of waterfalls, rich wildlife including dynamic moose and elks as well as chirming birds, beautiful brocades of autumn leaves…. everything is just wonderful. The black bear is beautiful, but I'd be scared meeting a bear in person even if it is a baby. Take care.
ReplyDeleteYoko
Thank you Yoko!
DeleteThe bears we have seen are shy and run away quickly.
Take care, enjoy your day! Have a great new week!

I have walked that Roaring Fork Trail. That's a beautiful one.
ReplyDeleteWe stayed at a hotel right down the street from the trail. One night while throwing trash away a bear jumped out of the dumpster! Thank goodness it was a little one and it was more scared of me than I was of it.
Thank you Dee!
DeleteAll of the bears we have seen were shy, they leave quickly.
Take care, enjoy your day! Have a great new week!
Beautiful photos of nature and wildlife. Such a wonderful look back, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteThanks and have a great new week!
Thank you Bill!

I've been to some of these parks, thanks for the memories your pictures brought back. I always wanted to visit the Great Smokies, but never made it. It's a good thing there are all these pictures from our beautiful country. Thanks for sharing these and have a great rest of the day. Oh, we did have a pretty good snow storm overnight. Still too windy for me to venture outside.

The first time I saw elk was in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. They were everywhere and lived around people, who basically ignored them. We, not accustomed to them, were fascinated and took hundreds of photos. Great photos as always, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marie!
DeleteI am happy to see the elk in the wild!

You've traveled some beautiful roads and in some wonderful National Parks. Beautiful photos. We'd like to see more National Parks in the future. As I type fluffy snow is falling here in the northeast corner of Washington state! Happy last week of January.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen!

Eileen, I'm enjoying your national parks' photos. You're reminding me where I've been. One of my favorite memories is driving through the Smokies in the mid-1970s, wowza! Thinking back, I'm feeling young again. :-) Cheers to a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Su-sieee!
DeleteLately, I have been enjoying the look back at where we've been.

I dont' know what I would do if I ever saw a beer, we don't have them here but I probably would freeze which is what I've heard you're meant to do

You must know I loved your views of Rocky Mountain National Park, Eileen! I've done the hike up to Alberta falls a few times. and I did the other tundra trail without the steps--but someday I want to try the one with the steps. Seeing a moose is so special. They are mostly found on the western side of the park. Aren't we fortunate to have so many beautiful national parks to enjoy? Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat!
DeleteWe drove around the whole park, we stayed near Granby Lake and in Estes Park.

Eileen - yes, I have years of photos to share ... I suppose I will be able to use them when I can no longer get out and do things!!! Such a cool close-up of the grouse ... I love the coloring. That young moose is adorable - those gangly legs look like they reach to the sky. The autumn colors in the Great Smoky Mountains - a stunning photograph! Thanks for taking Mosaic Monday along for a walk down memory lane!
ReplyDeleteThank you Angie!

It is a wonderful world. When the Covid-19 is over or safe to travel and Canada relaxes her restrictions on the border, we have some awesome NP's up here. I haven't made it to them all in Alaska yet, but it's on my list.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dave!

Lovely to look back and reflect with you on these National Park adventures. Whilst they all hold their own beauty, the waterfalls and autumnal colours are my favourites. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful adventure when all is calmed and settled with COVID-19; for now, it is nice to have something to look forward to.

Hi Eileen, I know exactly what you mean when you say, “It is hard trying to pick out a few photos to share on this post, I have so many photos.” The same is true here. No worries, though, I always enjoy which ever pictures you share … they are always very good! I like your idea of a long trip after covid shots. I love the way you do the collages … I must learn how to do that for some of my pictures. Hope all is well with you. Have a happy day! John
