1. Sept 4th, I was able to catch the Cape May Warbler on the Devil's Walking Stick outside my window. The Devils Walking Stick is also known as a native plant called Aralia spinosa. As you can see there are plenty of berries for the birds to eat. I am pretty sure this is the male Cape May Warbler, they have the yellow cheeks and black streaks on chest.
2. Sorry these are not the clearest photos taken through my window.

3. Sept 5, I've been watching a Gray Catbird in my yard. It also like the berries on the Devil's Walking Stick.
4. Sept 5th, our walk to the lake with the grand-dogs. The usual Belted Kingfisher was sitting in the usual spot. There are some leaves starting to turn colors, it looked a school of fish were coming to the top of the water, maybe to eat bugs.
5. Sept 5th, the Belted Kingfisher in it's favorite spot to sit. It is the same spot I saw the two Green Herons the week before.
6. Sept 7th, this was my view out my dining window . The fawn has lots most of it's spots.
7. Sept 7th, a wet Robin was eating some to the Devils Walking Stick berries.
8. Sept 7th, below is a wet Gray Catbird, American Robin and 2 white-tailed deer on our neighbors lawn.
9. Sept 4th, not critter photos but our neighborhood was part of the 1st Maryland Cycling Classic, 120 mile race with 111 riders representing 27 countries. I watched some riders pass by our driveway.

The Devils Walking Stick Is a fascinating name for these plants. I often wonder how the came about it. The berries certainly attracted the birds. Cute deer and a nice capture of the bicyclists. Have a great weekend Eileen.

The Kingfisher is a top favourite of mine, for its rapidity and its beautiful colours.
The deer are pretty as well.

The berries on the Aralia spinosa looks very pretty, and it's nice that the birds like them. I once had this plant, but I did not like the spines. The fawn was beautiful.

You certainly have a good harvest of berries for the birds. We always say that means a hard cold winter. I wonder will that be the case this year. I was interested in Denise's comment about how creatures and plants get their names, because I was going to say the same thing. Sometimes it's fairly obvious but the name Devils Walking Stick eludes me. It has a great quantity of seeds to attract a number of birds, The Cape May Warbler and Grey Catbird are lovely captures and birds. The Robin and White-tailed Deer are other great images. You must have very clean windows to photograph these creatures so well. :=)

A little follow up read up on how to propagate the DWS Plant...and here is what i said.
Description: Use one of the following methods for propagation: fresh seed sown in fall or stratified seed sown in spring; dormant root cuttings stored in cool, damp sand until spring; and/or transplanting of suckers.
Seed Collection: Seed is mature when outer covering of nutlet is hard and brittle. This may be before the fruit pulp has darkened. Clean seeds immediately to avoid fermentation. Plant or stratify immediately.
Seed Treatment: Stratification is for 30-60 days at 41 degrees.

Enjoy your time away from the computer. For me, it's always refreshing to be far from techy stuff!! Loved seeing your critters.
Amazing to have deer so close. Humans are critters, too, and what could be healthier than cycling down beautiful tree-lined roads.
Love your critters every Saturday! Those deer look a bit scrawny for the coming winter. Hope they can find lots to eat. I miss the Devils Walking Stick that used to be in front of our library...it was removed to have a more organized garden appearance.

Your shots of the Warbler are great, Eileen. I am seeing flocks of birds gathering even Cardinals most of whom stay here all winter.
That belted kingfisher is such a rakish looking bird. I love your warblers. So colorful!! 120 mile bike race, only for the extraordinarily fit!! Fun to watch though.

I’ve watched kingfishers along the boardwalk this summer. Love those critters. The storm took a lot of our leaves this year. We may not get much colour. Love the photo of the bikers, flying past in a human way.
Hello Eileen, Holy berries, what an amazing feast, they aren't going to run out at all! Great photos even through your window, and the deer, especially fawns are such sweet creatures they are always a delight to see. I am so happy that the Cape May Warbler, the Robin and the Gray Catbird find so many delicious berries in your garden and that you can also spot white-tailed deer in the neighborhood! Also during your walk with the granddogs you had again nice sightings of colorful foliage, a school of fish and your old friend, the Belted Kingfisher :-) Interesting also the big bike race that took place in your neighborhood - I know that something like this is exciting: When I was still living in Vienna, there was a section of the Vienna marathon in our neighborhood, in which a good friend and my husband ran twice. I always stood there with a small pennant and cheered on the runners :-D
Speaking of Vienna: This time I'm showing photos from a trip to our federal capital in my blog - and unfortunately I didn't photograph any real animals there - but there are art critters to see: A fish at a fountain, a dog in a stucco work, a swan and a horse (both pieces of broken porcelain art)... I hope you like these animals too!

Yes, the Belted Kingfisher is frequently seen in your posts these days, and the Devil's walking sticks hold a lot of berries, which is undoubtedly a feast for birds. I like the color-changing leaves and the great catch of the bicycle riders, and the woods appear to give them a pleasant feeling.
Those berries were a feast for the birds visiting your garden. As always beautiful pictures.
I love the birds but the tree with the speckled red leaves is gorgeous!
I love that warbler...I think they are good photos, specially considering they are taken through a window.
Not many wet birds around here. The west is in a megadrought. I always think kingfishers are such amazing little birds. I may have seen one at the zoo, but it's been a long while since I've gone.
