My hummer

I am linking up with Green Day and Camera Critters and  I'd-rather-b-birdin

For my post this week I am showing my pretty female Ruby-throated Hummingbird. She has been terrorizing all the birds in my yard. She is one mean and tough hummer. She will chase off the larger birds like the Cardinals, Catbirds and the Titmouse. Any bird that comes near her tree or her feeder better watch out.

I am happy to still be seeing her here in my yard, it has been awhile since I have seen the male hummer and her mate. She stayed behind with the juvies and will be juicing up for her trip south.

I believe she will be heading south soon too, I will miss her dearly until she and her mate arrive back in my yard next spring.

These two Chipping Sparrows are being brave to sit in the hummer's tree. They better watch or she will swing that long pointy beak their way.

To see more beautiful photos and cute adorable critters, please visit : Green Day and Camera Critters.
Thanks to Fiona the host of Green Day and to Misty Dawn the host of Camera Critters and thanks to Anni of I'd-rather-b-birdin

I also want to thank everyone for stopping by to see my post and I wish all a very safe and happy weekend.

The hummers are cute - I caught a few shots of some in the tree on Thursday. Didn't realize they were so ferocious, but I guess when you are that small, you have to be!

Such sweet little shots of her Eileen!
I have had one in my yard but I rarely see her and as of yet she's eluded my camera. She doesn't come to the feeder often for some reason. I don't have anything in bloom in my yard. I haven't seen a male all summer. I hope she makes it back next spring.

It is pretty amazing to see them defend their feeder and the space around it from much larger birds.

You captured the little hummers so well. They are so small it is hard to do that at times. I love trying though and get a decent shot every now and again.

Love those hummer shots Eileen and I am amazed at your description of how aggressive she is towards large birds. Sh'll be back sooner than you think and in the meantime you can enjoy all those winter birds.

Hi there - nice shots. It always surprises the amount of rage that can be bottled up in small birds!

Thanks for the multiple comments - my busy is over, all I have to do now is empty my inbox!

Hello, Eileen!

Thank you so much for visiting my first Camera Critters post! I used to live in Maryland, once in Bainbridge and later in Annapolis, as my Dad was in the Navy. Most of my childhood was in those two venues. Your hummer is amazing! These are beautiful pictures of her. I hope she stays in your yard a while longer! Have a great week!
