Saturday's Critters #89

Saturday Critters #89

Happy Saturday everyone, it's time to share your critter posts. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is taking time and linking in with this week's critter party.

I am sharing some more birds and critters from our day trip to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware. It is a great outing, seeing lots of Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Little Blue Herons, my first Monarch of the season and a cute turtle and frog shot.

Gret Egret reflections.

A fuzzy looking Great Blue Heron, could be an older juvie?

Two juvenile Little Blue Herons. The leg color and beak are the difference between the heron and egrets.

My first of the season Monarch Butterfly

The turtle is a Slider, can you find the frog?

A view of the Egrets and the dark spots are a few Glossy Ibis mixed in this group, seen from the wildlife drive at Bombay Hook NWR. I hope you enjoyed my critter post.
As always I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit and for leaving a comment. Also thanks to all who have been participating with my Saturday's Critters, you are all the best blogging friends.

To see more beautiful birds and cute critters, check out these two memes below.

Hello Eileen,
Amazing to see all these egrets together, I guess mostly juveniles getting together.
The heron also seems to be a youngster from this season or the one before, it has little of adult colourings.
I wish we had that many ardeidé birds around to catch all those invasive crayfish we got here!!
Enjoy your weekend and keep well!

A lovely selection of birds, animals and insects today Eileen. All those egrets in the marshy grass are amazing. And of course it's great to see the Monarch again. It must be a special time of the year when the Monarchs arrive.

Thanks again for hosting the day. Have a lovely weekend and take it easy.

Hi Eileen, what beautiful reflections of the Great Egrets in your first photos. I also love the Slider with red dots on its shell and stripes on its neck. All great critters. Thanks for hosting. Have a great weekend. Jo

Your swamp full of Egrets is amazing, so many curvy necks. The Monarchs are really special, I love the black with white speckles on the body and wing edges.

Kenneth Cole Schneider said...

What a rich habitat for the herons! The Little Blue Herons displayed their leg and bill colors nicely. I saw few Monarchs in Florida and now in Illinois I found only one so far, and no caterpillars on the abundant milkweed. Wonderful variety of wild critters!

Thank goodness we no longer collect egret feathers for fashion purposes. Those birds wouldn't last long; they are so gorgeous in their finery.

I'm amazed there are so many egrets in one spot! I still have not seen a monarch yet even though I have a Buddlea in full bool just outside my kitchen door. This seems very BAD too me! I'm worried!

Florence said...

Hi, Eileen! Such a treat to see the lovely birds and the Monarch. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Had to lean in close for the frog.
The reflection in the first photo is perfect.

The Monarchs are so very beautiful!

Jenn Jilks said...

They're so lovely! No monarchs here.

Lee Ann L. said...

I love your butterflies; but then, I am biased because I adore butterflies. It makes me happy to see a Monarch as their population is declining fast. I haven't seen one hereabout in over two years and that makes me sad.

Now I know where all of the Egrets are ... we have had so few this year it is concerning. But, yours are beautiful as is your fuzzy heron and your well disguised frog. Another thing we are missing here is the Monarch Butterfly ... I sure don't know what happened. Maybe because of all the rain we had in the first half of summer. Love your post, Eileen, always do :)

Great collection of photos - so many similar birds to Australia. The Sliders are found here but considered an environmental pest as they were introduced. Nice to see them in their natural environment.

Look at all those egrets! WOW! And if it's not raining and we can get out tomorrow, I'm going to be looking for butterflies. I haven't seen as many this summer! Sweet hugs, Diane

Oh look at the turtle. The gray bird was so pretty. I saw a turtle in the road on the way to church in the spring when it was so rainy here.
And on the other end of the road ducks. No camera's. duh!
Sorry I haven't linked. But I noticed it's still open a few more days. I have a couple of friends photo's I might borrow and link. They aren't bloggers. Thanks for coming by. Have a great week.

What spectacular photos, Eileen! We saw some egret-type birds in a Vancouver garden yesterday and thought of you immediately. Sadly, they were plastic :) I do love seeing these birds on your blog that we will never see in the wild in this part of the world.

Hello Eileen.. I'm back. Just edited my post to add a hawk we saw this morning and I'm wondering if you might have an idea of its id. I rushed off this morning (my piano teacher was doing his doctoral defence) and that is how we saw the hawk. It flew into one of the trees on campus (UBC) and we had just enough time to catch a quick shot of it. While I'm here, I must say that I loved that Monarch Butterfly. Your slider was a beauty as well, and yes, I did see the frog :) Many, many thanks for hosting!
