I have some more of my yard birds and critters seen as of Sept 28 through Oct 3rd.
1. On Sept 29th I saw a male Black-throated Blue Warbler eating the Devil's walking stick berries.
2. Butterflies seen on Sept 28th, top is the Red-spotted Purple Butterfly and on the bottom is the Monarch Butterfly seen on our Buddleia.
3. I've been seeing this big Ground Hog in our yard, one day it was on top of our fence eating the Morning Glories, another day it was in the side yard eating grass?
4. Sept 30th last sighting of least one Ruby-throated Hummingbird. It likes to sit in the Buddleia Bush near the feeder. After Oct 1st, I have not seen any Hummingbirds. I left the feeder up just in case.
5. This Bull frog has been seen often at the edge of our little pond next to the turtle statue. They are buddies..
6. Sept 30th, my back yard birds: Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Tennessee Warbler, Cape May Warbler and a possible Hermit Thrush.
Sept 30th, another Scarlet Tanager, female or first year male?
October 3rd, I was still seeing migrating warblers in my yard. Below is on the left a Tennessee Warbler, top right is the Cape May Warbler, bottom right is a female Black-throated Blue Warbler.
I hope everyone enjoyed my back yard birds and critters.

ReplyDeleteNice shots from your garden.
Take care.
Hello Monica
DeleteThe ground hog is also known as a woodchuck or marmot.
Thank you for the comment!
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Hi Eileen :)) Oh I love that photo with the frog and the turtle! At first glance, I didn't notice the turtle was a statue lol! Groundhogs...I had a family of them in my backyard many years ago, the triplets were just so adorable. Great photos! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Rain!
DeleteMy neighbor was seeing the young ones under their front porch and eating their flowers.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Fall migration is obviously spot where you live, Eileen, and the range of warblers passing through is very pleasing. For some reason I am unable to link this morning. I get a message that my cookies are not connected - which Miriam could have told you years ago! I will try again later and see if the neutrons fire up then!
ReplyDeleteThank you David!
DeleteI am pleased that the warblers stop by my yard, it helps we are surrounded by a forest too.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Seeing all the birds in the Devil's Walking Stick makes me want one!
ReplyDeleteA great bunch of Critter photos!
The last of our resident Hummingbirds left Sept 30. Then none until 3 days ago when one bird began visiting our feeders. We are speculating that maybe it is waiting for this storm on the Gulf Coast to move through before it goes farther south.
Have a great weekend!
Thank you Lea!
DeleteI do love having this plant, it really attract the birds.
I hope you are safe from the storm.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!

...the butterflies are a delight that I will have to wait to see again next year. Thanks for hosting and have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom!

How lucky you have a pond, Eileen. Looks like the frog feels very comfy hanging around the statue turtle. They have very similar faces so maybe that’s why. :)
ReplyDeleteHello,
DeleteWe have had this pond for years, the lily pads are growing well.
Thank you for the comment!
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Awesome photos.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.

ReplyDeleteThank you Jenn!

You're getting lots of different birds! Our last hummer sighting was Oct.7th. Groundhogs aren't terribly picky about what they'll eat. LOL! The butterflies are beautiful!

Have a great day!
PS: Thanks for hosting, Eileen! Have a great new week.
ReplyDeleteThanks again Nick.
DeleteWishing you a happy new week!
Enjoyed all the photos. Neat photo of the hummingbird sitting on the bush. I wonder where she/he will go for the winter? "This Bull frog has been seen often at the edge of our little pond next to the turtle statue. They are buddies." That gave me a good morning smile. As always, a fine Saturday's Critters. Have a happy weekend, Eileen, and take care. PS Thank you for recent comment on my blog. PSS I love the way you have set up the linky. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you John! I am always happy to see you visiting my blog.
DeleteI would smile every time I saw the frog sitting next to the turtle statue, like they were buddies.
Take care and stay safe! Have a happy day and a great weekend!
There are so many different Warblers! You see the neatest birds and I love that big ole groundhog! Enjoy your weekend! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane!

ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie,
DeleteI have more Monarchs in the last couple of days than all summer.
They are beautiful. Have a happy day and great weekend!
First, yes groundhogs eat grasz... you are right about that.
ReplyDeleteLove all the birds you show...they are such beautiful creatures.
Thank you Rose!
DeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
Hi Eileen. You seem to have a perfect mix of plants and flowers that bring in birds, animals and insects. I’m loving the Red-spotted Purple Butterfly and the Monarch on Buddleia. The Black-throated Blue Warbler is very well hidden in the Devil’s Walking Stick. And I guess you didn’t mind having two Ground Hog days ? It’s a very interesting creature I must say, probably because we have nothing like that here in England.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend and thanks for the link. Glad you sorted it, I was thinking it was me.
Hello, Phil
DeleteThanks for the comment and link. From today on, I am changing to the new link tool. Mr Linky is having problems. The ground hogs will eat everything in sight, we have had to put up a fence around our garden to protect it. Have a great day and happy weekend!
How funny the frog likes the turtle statue! Amazing to see and photograph a groundhog in your own yard! The birds sure love those devils walking stick berries! (Thanks for the interesting name of that interesting plant.). Thank you for hosting! I like the new format with thumbnails!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sallie!
DeleteI will be using the new link tool from now on.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Hi Eileen. Tried to do my link but I can't do it. I'm not sure how this new system works since I am not a techie person. Will come back later and try again.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment and visit!
DeleteI can link up your post, if you need help?
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
HI Eileen, great yard visitors, love the groundhog...so cute. Nice to have a variety of critters running around! I like your new link server it's really nice to see everyone's thumbnail....I have such a blend in my blog and for now a lot of political ranting too so I don't normally link up for that reason. Hope your Saturday is good!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sondra! The thumbnails are nice to see, a preview of the blog post.
DeleteThe ground hog is a piggie, just like the squirrels. They will eat everything in sight.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Happy Saturday to you with your wonderful series of photos of nature and its gems ~Xox

DeleteLovely photos. The butterflies are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love the birdies too.
Thank you for the comment and visit.
DeleteEnjoy your day, happy weekend!
I love seeing the frog, Eileen. I've been seeing a lot of vultures flying overhead the last couple of days, heading south for the winter I guess.
ReplyDeleteI got a link done (not totally sure how) but I can't open anyone else's posts. I think I have to do something with unblocking pop-up windows. Maybe just for your site? Anyway, Thanks!
Thank you RedPat! I had to do the same to allow the popup to view the blogs.
DeleteEnjoy your day, happy weekend!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteYour yardbirds and butterflies are so beautiful! I envy you all the lovely butterflies. I wish they were here too.
Happy weekend!
Thank you Marit!
DeleteHave a happy weekend!
Dear Eileen, thanks for sharing these amazing critters - a ground hog is new to me; the bullfrog socializing with your turtle statue is so cute and the butterflies and warblers are beautiful. Thanks for hosting this meme. I was somewhat challenged by the new method of linking up; I trust my link appears. Have a wonderful weekend. Jo
ReplyDeleteThank you Jo! Your link worked, I appreciate the comment and visit too.
DeleteHave a great day and a happy weekend!
Hi Eileen, beautiful photos, the ground hog and the frogs are very beautiful. Ground hogs are they agressive? Have a nice weekend. Greetings Caroline
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline!
DeleteNo the ground hog is very shy, it runs away as soon as they see me.
Have a great weekend!
beautiful photos as always....
ReplyDeletewe have black berries attract some birds at our backyard... sometime, we tasted its sweet.
aww .... Bull frog is poisonous frog...take care.
Have a great day
Hello, Tanza
DeleteI wish we had the blackberries. These berries are poisonous to people but not birds.
Thanks for the comment, have a happy weekend!
Very nice !
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment and visit.
DeleteEnjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
Lovely butterflies.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting.
Thank you Klara!
DeleteEnjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
That warbler sure blends in with those berries.
ReplyDeleteLovely butterflies and that sure is a big groundhog. The ones I've seen are a lot trimmer. :)
Thank you Karen!
DeleteWe have 3 sizes here, I think a big family lives in our yard.
Enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
Love the bullfrog who has no fear of the giant turtle. I was missing the hummingbirds but the little red-breasted nuthatch is sweet to watch now. Happy Day (a little late)
ReplyDeleteThank you Gayle!
DeleteEnjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
As usual, I love all of your pictures. But that fat groundhog and the frog are my favorite! I get the same frogs in my pond. They make me smile. And it's good to see such a fat healthy groundhog. Sometimes I see them around here and they look a bit underfed.
ReplyDeleteThank you Minerva,
DeleteI think our groundhog eats well, he or she is fat.
Enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
The blackberries are interesting. Love the butterflies. Ours are gone now. That ground hog reminds me of a beaver. And the birds...always a favourite. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marie!
DeleteEnjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
You've had some wonderful sightings, Eileen. Love that groundhog, too. Quite the critter! Love the new way of sharing, too. Enjoy the weekend and week to come!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie!
DeleteEnjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
I've never heard of a groundhog climbing a fence, I bet that was something to see! Also left my hummingbird feeder up just in case, however, I'm not sure if I still need to change it out weekly now? Great variety of birds and creatures. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean!
DeleteYes, the groundhog can walk on top of the fence mowing down the morning glories as he goes.
Enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
You must feed that groundhog very well! I love that the frog hangs out with the turtle statue.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda!
DeleteHe does eat well! Our plants!
Enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
That is one pudgy groundhog and I have never seen one in real life except in a zoo. And that frog sitting with your turtle is absolutely beautiful. If he turned into a prince he would be very handsome
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra!
DeleteI like seeing my frog at the pond.
Enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
Loving all your nature shots Eileen.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, and thanks for joining us at I'd Rather B Birdin this week. (Also, thanks for your kind comments, hosting!)
Thank you Anni!
DeleteEnjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
I have not seen any hummingbirds since October came in. I've never heard of that berry with the most unusual name. Happy that it can nourish birds as floral and fauna die down. Frogs still in our pond and though some have departed, still birds around too. The occasional mild/warm spells are confusing the flowers though.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jocelyn! Yes, the birds have plenty of natural foods to eat here.
DeleteOur weather has been warm too, we could use some rain. Enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
A lovely selection of birds and animals. I have never heard of the Devil's walking stick berries before. They look a bit like blackcurrants but I'm assuming they are great for birds but not for humans? Enjoy the rest of your Sunday Eileen and have a great week ahead :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Denise!
DeleteHave a great day and happy new week!
Wonderful series.. I'm always amazed that even though we live so close to each other, your birds are totally different than ours.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice new week!!!
Thank you Missy! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteWhat a great mix, lovely selection of photographs.
ReplyDeleteLoved the groundhog!
Have a great new week.
Stay safe and well.
All the best Jan
Thank you Jan! Have a happy new week!
DeleteSo many beautiful critters. The berries look good to eat, no wonder the birds enjoy the berries. I have not seen an actual ground hog. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteI love the butterflies. Great critters all!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post filled with a lot of great photos. That is one big Groundhog!
