I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday
These photos are from a few weeks ago hubby and I visited the Cunningham Falls State Park here in Maryland.
The weather had been mild and it was a lovely day to be outside taking a walk. Our first hike was on the trail to the waterfalls from the parking close to the lake. I was surprised that there were no ducks or geese on the lake at Cunningham Falls State park. It is a nice trail with pretty trees and lots of boulder size rocks in places. There were also new plantings of what looked like Hemlock trees along the trail. We met up with a family hiking with their cute blue eyed Husky puppy dog. I asked if I could take a photo of their puppy, I just love dogs.
I am not sure what kind of tree these are but they do not seem to loose their old leaves. I thought maybe in spring the new leaf pushes out the old leaf. I thought the woods looked pretty with these trees with their bronze colored leaves all around.
The birds seen along the trail were a lot of White Breasted Nuthatches, and lots of Chickadees. I think this area could see a mixture of the Black Capped Chickadee and the Carolina Chickadee. I also heard the White Throated Sparrows, Juncos, Downy Woodpeckers and some Kinglets.
The Chickadee has to be one of the cutest birds even their sounds are cute.
The Cunningham Falls is a popular place, visitors like to climb up the rocks to the top of the falls.
There is also an easy boardwalk trail to view the falls, we also walked this trail so we could see a different angle and view of the falls. This is the creek at the bottom of the falls, a pretty scene with the trees and in the background the falls. Cunningham Falls State Park is located in Thurmont, Maryland. Also, nearby is the Catoctin Mountain National Park.
I am happy you stopped by to visit my post and I appreciate the comments. I hope everyone has a great week.

Hello there!!!
It has been a busy weekend. I hope you had a nice one. I don't know what it is but anything that has a boardwalk makes me happy. I love walking on them and at times just sitting off the edge of them whenever I can:) Love the woodsy landscape. Chris
Lovely series of shots, Eileen. It is a beautiful part of the world.
Hi Eileen, Cunningham park looks like a beautiful place to hike the falls and capture shots of sweet little Chickadees.
Thank you for sharing,
Pam
I worked in Maryland in the 80's and was surprised at how beautiful it was.
Super capture of the Chickadee! If I were a bird it would be a Dee!:)
Fabulous photos! The winter months are so great for bird watching! You can see so much through the trees! ♥
What a wonderful walk in the woods Eileen...the pictures were so clear that I could almost smell the crisp air...great post!
If you happen to notice me visiting your blog a lot its because I visit, get interupted, go back...repeat,repeat! :)
I would love to take a walk here. It reminds me a lot of the lake we live on. (Tims Ford Lake) I have the same trees in our wooded area out back, ours are Maple and Elm. They certainly add a little color to an otherwise bare surrounding.
Your little Chickadee is sweet. Have a great week ahead.
Absolutely breathtaking!!! Thank you!! Cathy
Beautiful photos! And mosaic, looks like a great hike!
A gorgeous place for a walk. Can't see what kind of trees they are but I know that Oak trees hold their leaves over the winter. The little husky is so cute. V
These photos are beautiful and the park looks like a great place to get out and enjoy nature. The trees with the brown leaves on them look like beech trees. Have a great week! Pamela
Oh what a beautiful place to hike! There is a certain spare beauty to winter, and you have captured it wonderfully! xoxo
What a wonderful place for a walk. I would have taken a photo of that adorable puppy, too! The Chickadee -- too cute! Thanks for taking us along.
A beautiful place for a walk, the shape and colour of your mystery tree looks like a beech. The oak and beech keep their leaves over the winter. Have a wonderful Valentine week:)
beautiful series of photos! happy MM, Eileen!
Eileen, that is a beautiful place to go for a hike. There's so much to see. I loved the close-up of the chickadee!
-Karen
That chickadee is so cute with his slightly ruffled feathers. And I love the photo of the bronze leaves looking like they are drifting through the trees.
Beautiful shots of the place, very scenic.
Hi Eileen
Great hiking country. The chickadee is so close I want to reach out and ruffle those soft feathers.
Judith
Lovely place to walk and it looks like you have a fun little companion. Have a great week.
beautiful nature sceneries Eileen,I love the wooded path and the shadows.
What a wonderful mosaic!
Have a great week,
Markus
Wonderful series of photos! I just love the one of my favorite bird!
Beautiful place, it looks more like autumn there comparing to Finland:) I would rather be there in mild weather than here.
Hi there - very nice set of pictures - If they had been taken in the UK I would have said that the trees that keep their leaves were beech - not know if you have them in your part of the world.
Cheers - Stewart M - Australia
Wow Eileen that looks a great Park, I can see the weather has been good for you too. I love to visit your blog and see photographs of birds that I would never see otherwise. All I get are robins, great tits, blue tits and blackbirds on a regular basis.I have made sure there is food and fresh water for them since we have had the snow.
Have a great week, Jackie in Surrey, UK.
Hi Eileen
Thanks for visiting my little blog project. What beautiful photography! I enjoyed visiting and will be back.
I think the trees you mentioned are beech - with their arching branches and brown leaves, they are beautiful.
Oh, what a gorgeous place to visit! Looks a bit like a Norwegian wood :)But the leaves still on the trees, feels more like fall than winter to me.
Wish you a great week!
Irene (in Cancun at this moment)
I am so happy that you visited my blog and that I found yours. I just love your nature shots, they make me jealous wish I were there. (o:
What a really beautiful place to take a walk. The trees with the sunlight are delightful an the birds are unfamiliar to me. I like coming out with you.

A most lovely series of photographs! Cunningham Falls State Park looks like a beautiful place to visit. Gorgeous trails and falls! Love the sweet chickadee close-up and adorable husky puppy! Thanks for sharing such beauty.
That cubby little chickadee is on cuteness overload ... as is the husky pup. I can imagine how all the different bird sounds accompanied you on your hike through this enchanted forest!
Lovely sequence of shots. The chickadee is such an adorable bird. I can see why the falls are popular. Beautiful spot. I've noticed trees here that do the same thing. The leaves turn brown after fall color but don't drop off until the new leaves come. I can't think of the name of the trees like that we have near me.
Wonderful shots. I wish I'd visited this place when I lived in Maryland.
What a lovely place for birding and hiking! Love all the photos.
Happy Valentines Day!

Very surprising to see the leaves did not loose its fall colors in the midst of winter.
Looks like a lot of photo opportunities and the trails look easy. I would enjoy this hike.
Fascinating photos of your area. The woods must be a pleasure to see/walk about.
