Hello and happy Saturday!
If
you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them
and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post.
Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party
! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones,
statues and paintings, a new or old post!
1. I've been seeing a few Dark-eyed Juncos in my yard, it is one of my winter birds. This is the male a slated-colored back and sides with a white belly and a pink bill.
2. On Oct 22nd, I was still seeing a Black-throated Blue Warbler in my yard. It does love the berries on the Devils Walking Stick ( Aralia spinosa). I have seen these birds up until the last week of October this year.
3. Below is another berry loving bird, the White-throated Sparrow. It is a winter bird in my area.
4. On Oct 22 and 23rd I was seeing a couple of Monarch Butterflies and a guess at the Clouded Sulphur Butterfly. I read that a female can have spots along the border and a double central spot.
5. My cute critter. is the Chipmunk, I hear it chirping from inside my house. They can sit and chirp loudly nonstop at times, it sounds like a bird fussing.

I’m loving that you still have butterflies! My friend from Illinois just texted me a picture of juncos at her feeder, she said she only sees them in colder months. We used to have them all year here in Oregon, when we had feeders. Love all your critters ... thank you for hosting!

Your chipmunk photo really captures how cute they are! It's funny how loud they sound in the woods when one is listening for the tiny chirps of birds.

your berry bush seem to be very popular. Probably give the birds a lot of the energy the birds need in cold days.
ReplyDeleteAmazing you still have butterflies. We have a similar yellow butterfly in Sweden, but rarely seen. Love the adorable chipmunk :)
Take care and have a good week!
Thank you Monica!
DeleteWe had some warm weather up until last weekend, the butterflies have left now.

you know before i say it which is my favorite. the title of my blog says that fourpawsetc if it has fur and paws i love it..birds use to fly into daddy's berries that grew on the house and then poop the out on cars and anything in the yard. see how my mind runs? of course you do. we got a little winter today. 66 degrees.. woo hoo, course it will get hot after lunch but still woo hoo
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra!
DeleteI find drop of purple around the deck and yard, it is from the birdies.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!

Nice visitors! I hope the Black-throated Blue Warblers take their time coming down here to Florida. We have quite a few now and they are devouring the Firebush (Hamelia patens) berries which are ripening. There will be lots more for them as well as Trema berries. Maybe this will also be a good year for robins which also are big fruit-eaters and show up in flocks every few winters.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ken!
DeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
A beautiful series of photos. I love the chipmunk and the pretty butterflies.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you Bill!

You do have some wonderful birds in your area that we here in South Texas would consider "rare". Great images.

ReplyDeletePossibly the chippies are gathering in for winter and comparing notes on their haul? &*> And to be seeing butterflies this month - well that's a blessing I'd say. YAM xx
Thank you Yam!
DeleteI am pretty sure our butterflies left last weekend,as did our warmer weather.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Beautiful shots, Eileen. I especially like the butterflies and the chipmunk.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nick!

Another great collection. I too have seen lots of Juncos , Catbirds and Robins devouring the berries on our Ilex verticulata...:)jp
ReplyDeleteThank you JP!
DeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
Nice bird photos Eileen! It's really neat that you still see butterflies! It's so cold in my neck of the woods, they are long gone. The chipmunk is cute, we have a bunch of them scurrying around the property, getting ready for winter! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Rain!
DeleteLast weekend was the last of our warm weather, it is cold here too.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
PS: Thank you for hosting, Eileen. Have a great new week.

i can't believe you are still seeing monarchs. they better get a move on, it's going to be really cold, really soon. how nice to see the junco this early in the season, that is a beautiful bird and capture of it!!
ReplyDeletemy white throated sparrows have arrived in big numbers, eating primarily from the ground!! LOVED the chipmunk, they are so fun to watch!!

Thanks Debbie!

Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Beautiful critters Eileen, love them all!
ReplyDeleteThank you Martha!
DeleteHave a great weekend!
I've been hearing Juncos but haven't spotted any yet! It is getting cold for butterflies!
ReplyDeleteThank you RedPat!
DeleteHave a great weekend!
As long as you have berries, you will have birds Eileen. The Devil's Walking Stick seems to be a bird magnet. I wonder if I could buy it over here. Or you could send me some dried up berries and I could plant some and see what happens. It looks very much like our dogwood or elderberry.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and thanks for the link.
Thanks Phil!
DeleteThese berries are popular with my birds. This is called Aralia spinosa here, an invasive plant. Try researching the Aralia elata, it is similar and supposedly attracts the birds. Have a great weekend.
Aww … the chipmunk was a treat to see. These little critters sure can curl up into cute little balls.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit and comment.
DeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
We're getting frantically hungry birds these days!

Thank you Jenn!
DeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
Very beautiful to see
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit and comment.

Juncos are showing up here now too. And I have not seen the chipmunks for a couple of weeks. I've been wondering if they've taken to their burrows already. I wish I had more berry bushes here...on my list for plantings.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jocelyn!
DeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
The butterflies turned out a brilliant mosaic and nice bird shots. The Chipmunk resembles our Indian palm squirrel!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice weekend
Thanks for the visit and comment.

The Blue Warbler is really so beautiful, I often wonder just how many species of birds there are in the world, every one different and all the other coloured feathers making them unique.
ReplyDeleteHello Jean,
DeleteI would like to see some of the birds from around the world.
There are some here I have never seen.
Take care, have a happy day!
Not time yet for the Juncos to show up for winter here. Love your chipmunk photo. The only time I have seen chipmunks here is at a huge natural park on the west side of Nashville. They just seem so darn cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you Yvonne!

Nice shots. I haven't seen many Butterflies this summer and Fall. Usually we see lots and lots of Swallowtails----so far not. I did get a pic of a Red Admiral but not much of anything else

I am really behind in my visiting today since "life got in the way". Thanks for linking in at I'd Rather B Birdin this week. It's always so enjoyable to stop by, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anni!
DeleteI hope you are having fun!
Have a great day!
Love the photos! I'm on the fence (unfortunately) about feeding birds this winter. Our new indoor/outdoor kitty is a little bit of a predator and I would so hate if one of them got hurt (or worse) because of me. So I may have to continue to live vicariously through your photos and what you're seeing outside your window.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim!
DeleteHave a happy day!
Suerte tienes de verlos desde tu ventana amiga. La foto de la ardilla me encanta y el college también .
ReplyDeleteTe deseo un buena semana Eileen. Cuidaros.
Un abrazo.
