Saturday's Critters # 359

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

I have some yard birds, butterflies and a cute critter seen in my yard often.

1.  I've been seeing a few Dark-eyed Juncos in my yard, it is one of my winter birds. This is the male a slated-colored back and sides with a white belly and a pink bill.

2. On Oct 22nd, I was still seeing a Black-throated Blue Warbler in my yard. It does love the berries on the Devils Walking Stick ( Aralia spinosa). I have seen these birds up until the last week of October this year.

 3. Below is another berry loving bird, the White-throated Sparrow. It is a winter bird in my area.

4. On Oct 22 and 23rd I was seeing a couple of Monarch Butterflies and a guess at the Clouded Sulphur  Butterfly. I read that a female can have spots along the border and a double central spot.

 5. My cute critter. is the Chipmunk, I hear it chirping from inside my house.  They can sit and chirp loudly nonstop at times, it sounds like a bird fussing.

6.  A not so good photo taken through the window of my favorite Red-breasted Nuthatch at my feeder.

Thanks to all my visitors and for all the wonderful comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

Here is my linky:

  1. I’m loving that you still have butterflies! My friend from Illinois just texted me a picture of juncos at her feeder, she said she only sees them in colder months. We used to have them all year here in Oregon, when we had feeders. Love all your critters ... thank you for hosting!

  13. your berry bush seem to be very popular. Probably give the birds a lot of the energy the birds need in cold days.
Amazing you still have butterflies. We have a similar yellow butterfly in Sweden, but rarely seen. Love the adorable chipmunk :)

  22. Nice visitors! I hope the Black-throated Blue Warblers take their time coming down here to Florida. We have quite a few now and they are devouring the Firebush (Hamelia patens) berries which are ripening. There will be lots more for them as well as Trema berries. Maybe this will also be a good year for robins which also are big fruit-eaters and show up in flocks every few winters.

  34. As long as you have berries, you will have birds Eileen. The Devil's Walking Stick seems to be a bird magnet. I wonder if I could buy it over here. Or you could send me some dried up berries and I could plant some and see what happens. It looks very much like our dogwood or elderberry.

Have a great weekend and thanks for the link.

These berries are popular with my birds. This is called Aralia spinosa here, an invasive plant. Try researching the Aralia elata, it is similar and supposedly attracts the birds. Have a great weekend.

  66. Love the photos! I'm on the fence (unfortunately) about feeding birds this winter. Our new indoor/outdoor kitty is a little bit of a predator and I would so hate if one of them got hurt (or worse) because of me. So I may have to continue to live vicariously through your photos and what you're seeing outside your window.
