Bird Photography Weekly # 61

This photo is from this past January, the Snowy Owls were reported being seen all along the East coast. The Snowy owl was one bird I just had to see and top on my list, I talked hubby into walking on the Assateague beach for 3 1/2 miles one way to see this Snowy owl. The photo is cropped, I did not want to get too close and spook the beautiful owl.

This Snowy Owl was seen sitting on the top off a sand dune on the Assateague beach.

I love owls! They're on my "sure wish I could get a picture of one" list. These are great photos. Glad you talked your husband into walking (and walking...) to get the pictures.

Yes, that is a good one. I'd love to take one, and put it down in my galleries.

Oh my gosh..what a treat to see these beautiful raptors. I like that you didn't want to disturb it. For some people seeing it is more important...Michelle

Great Owl photos, Eileen! This is one the birds I want to see before I leave the U.S. for good. But...travel to the East Coast is out of the question at the moment.

Nice photos, and nice hubby to walk all that way with you! Who have thought to find a snowy owl at Assateague?

Excellent shots of the Snowy Owl Eileen! I would have walked as far as I had to to see that bird. I will be looking for sightings of this bird closer to California and try to catch it this winter.

Wow, that is awesome! We would see the snowies once in a great while where I grew up in the Alleghenies--folks said it was because the snowshoe rabbit population had crashed so they came south for food.

Amazingly beautiful! I don't think there can be a more beautiful bird. Lucky you! They are at the top of my "want to see" list, but I don't know if I will ever get fortunate enough to see one.
