SWF>>>Hashawha Nature Center

I am linking up with Skywatch Friday

On the weekend hubby and I always pick some place to go for a walk, this past weekend we went to the local Hashawha Nature Center. They have miles of trails, a lake, streams, a raptor center and it is great for birding.  The sky was a beautiful blue and it was a lovely day.

A robin perched on the wires with a pretty blue sky for a background.

Hubby and I were trying to figure out what kind of tree this is? It had these little round balls hanging on the branches that the birds were picking at?

I am seeing hawks just about everywhere I go, I believe this is a Red Shouldered.

The full moon looked beautiful last week.  I hope you enjoyed my skywatch.  As usual thank you for visting my post and for the lovely comments.

To see more beautiful skies from around the world  please visit Skywatch Friday.  Thanks to the hosting group of Sylvia, Sandy and Wren. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

  1. Your photo of the hawk was wonderful! Looks like you were right underneath him! The robins have been having a field day here at home because we have built a new tree bed for the wisteria we had to move...and we have leveled 2 other beds, so they have been enjoying the "free worms" being offered!

  10. Hi, Eileen,

The tree with the balls looks like a sycamore to me. Beautiful photos on a picture-perfect day. Can't believe I never heard of Hashawha Nature Center while living in MD!

  11. Hi, Eileen,

The tree with the balls hanging from it looks like a sycamore tree to me. Beautiful photos on what looks like a picture-perfect day! Can't believe I didn't know about Harshawha when living in MD.

  12. I haven't a clue to your tree, are the little balls spikey? A Sweet Gum has little balls but it doesn't look like one. Lucky you to see hawks, I have yet to take a photo of one.

  19. There were a great many birds in our trees when Lindy and I went out to the back yard yesterday, but they didn't stick around for portraits. I don't think I've seen a robin yet.
Gorgeous moon shot, Eileen. Great skywatching!

  28. Nice pics.

I'm not much of a naturalist but I think the tree is a sycamore tree. Gotta be careful when you are running on a trail near a sycamore because the little balls will turn your foot if you hit one just right.

Great shot of the robin against that blue sky.
Your tree is a sycamore tree. When my brother was young he got part of one of those balls caught in his throat.
Wow, great moon shot! Well done Eileen!
