I am linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes
For this week's wild bird I am featuring one of my favorites..the Black bellied Whistling Duck. We saw my favorite duck nearby the Venice Audubon Rookery while vacationing in Florida.
I am not sure what it is about these ducks but, they are so darn cute. They have the cutest eyes and beak, their legs look pink and the have the black belly. You can't help but to love them, I do.
In this spot across from the rookery I noticed the Black Bellied Whistling ducks, a few White Ibis and there were some Glossy Ibis also nearby. Seeing the Whistling Ducks made my day.
I hope you enjoyed my Black bellied Whistling Ducks.

What an interesting palette of colors these ducks have. They look quite happy bathing and enjoying the sun.
I agree they look very cute. I have never seen them except in photos. Maybe some day!
Hi Eileen,
These Black bellied Whistling ducks are TOO adorable!!! They almost look animated; unreal! Thanks so much for introducing them to me; lovely!

Wonderful shots of the ducks. They have a fun look.
They look like toy ducks, albeit it large ones, striding along the water's edge. Hope you're having a great day. Jo
Those Whistlers just plain look HAPPY, at least . . . it is why like them so much.
Awwww aren't they wonderful?? These are great captures my friend!
They're pretty cute indeed. I have never seen any of these.
Only ever seen them in a wildfowl collection but they are fun to watch AND listen to their conversations.
i know you love these guys! you just can't resist 'em! :)
Goofy looking ducks! Even though we don't have them here, they're one of my favorites!
I'm with you Eileen!! I LOVE these ducks!! I've never seen one in real life - pretty amazing that they are now in Florida. Either you or TexWisGirl said that Hurricane Katrina blew a flock to Florida. She has posted a lot of these funny, long legged, orange legs and billed feathered creatures that whistle instead of quack!!!
Wonderful pics! They are very cute!
Beautiful series of Whistling Ducks.
These are not in the Netherlands.
Regards, Irma
They are so slim.
And must be very fit.
Wonderful photos, exquisite beauty!, Greetings!
Oh, I do loves these ducks!
awesome whistlers...i feel like i'm in texas ;))
But what song do they whistle??
Do like those legs!
There is something very appealing about ducks and I do love them and these are very cute....Michelle
I love them! They are so cute. They almost look like something out of a cartoon! Such pretty colors :)
They are beautiful ducks to see! I love their colors..
Those whistlers are adorable! Great shots Eileen. Thanks for stopping by my raccoon post. I forgot to put my bird feeders away last night. One was already empty and the other was the thistle sock. Well, they (I am assuming it was the raccoons) had shredded the sock and it was lying on the deck along with a whole pile of thistle. I guess they weren't too keen on it but the doves were enjoying the seed when I got up this morning :)
I feel like I know all about Whistlers --from blog friend TexWisGirl. She posts a Whistler blog EVERY Wed....
Gorgeous ducks.
Hugs,
Betsy
You're so right Eileen. They are quite unusual but unique looking ducks with their brown and black colourations.
This is a new species to me. They are definitely different from most of the ducks I have seen. Thanks for the education.
Ηallo Eileen!!!
Wonderful shots!!!Great captures!!!
I realy like those Whistling Ducks!!!They are so cute and with beautiful colours!!!Thank you for sharing!!Have a lovely week!!
Dimi..
Great shots Eileen. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Great photos of the ducks.
long and lean and colourful
These are wonderful Eileen -- and you've given me a new place to add to my 'places to go next season' list...I hadn't heard of this Audubon sanctuary, but I'll find it!
Pretty colourful ducks.
Merle......
I love these! Have you seen them standing in trees? TexWisGirl has featured them several times, and I always get a kick out of them.
I'm with you ... I love those pink feet. I have never seen them in person, but love your pictures. Very cute little characters ...

Hi Eileen, Great ducks! Funny personalities and cute pinkish legs and bill. Also that rather upright posture is something that makes these ducks adorable. I hope to see some in person some day. I also would like to see a Glossy Ibis. Have a wonderful Wed. tomorrow!
Beautiful series.
cute ducks! and the beaks are very colorful ;-) I saw some ducks that have blue beaks too
my daughter loves ducks....where in Florida was this taken? I just recently moved to Florida but I haven't been to any scenic places yet
Love these guys!
Great image series :)
Definitely, these ducks are very cute and lovely.
Kaczki są urocze i bardzo podobają mi się na trzecim zdjęciu. Pozdrawiam.
Ducks are very charming and I like the third picture. Yours.
They're adorable! The colours are very pretty.
Nice pictures and birds, Eileen!
I wouldn't mind see them myself, but I've never done that!
Thanks for your kind comment!
Greetings Pia
Máš krásne fotografie kačíc. Na Slovensku som také nevidela. Ďakujem za tvoju návštevu a komentár.
You have beautiful pictures of ducks. In Slovakia I have not seen. Thank you for your visit and comment.

lol, I totally agree with you about this duck. It is very cute and adorable.
By far- I think whistlers are the coolest looking ducks.
Great shots Eileen.
These ducks are full of personality. Love the other mix of birds with the group. Really cool birds in your post Eileen!
My first thought when I see them is that they're the golden retrievers of the duck world. As you say, just so darn cute. Or, they also remind me of stuffed toy animals. Like their vocals too.
I also saw these in Central Florida; they were a bit shy; but I managed to get a few shots.
They surely are cute ducks. Theresa (Texwisgirl) has had masses of then around her pond for months.
Is that a stork in the background?
Beautiful Whistling Ducks, I love 'em.
Haha, love your 3 ducks in a row! Downunder we get Wandering and Plumed Whistling ducks - and it's always a thrill to see them too!!
They are great looking birds.
Cool shots of the Black-bellied Whistling Ducks Eileen! These beauties would be lifers for me!
