Skies over Gettysburg

For my Skywatch Friday I have some more of the skies over Gettysburg and a cool looking hawk.

Except for the wind we had a beautiful day at Gettysburg. The sky was a beautiful blue with the puffy white clouds.

A watchful eye and a blue sky!  I am guessing this is a Red Shouldered Hawk. But, I have been known to be wrong.

To see more beautiful skies from around the world please visit Skywatch Friday.  Thanks to the hosting groups of Sylvia, Sandy and Wren.  I hope you enjoyed my skies and I wish everyone a great weekend.

Great blue skies behind the bird which is a cute one. The puffy white clouds always make the sky interesting as does the fine statues.

The skies were beautiful, Eileen, but that hawk! I LOVE the closeup. He definitely has his eye on you...I think red-shouldered also, but, like you, I have occasionally been wrong! Lovely photos this morning!

Always wanted to visit the Civil War battle fields. My husband and I kind of planned on doing trips like that once he retired, but he died before he got to retire, so....

Hello - beautiful shot of the hawk and what wonderful feathers on the Blue Jay in your previous blog - our jays over here are quite colourful- pink - blue and black and white - but they keep mainly to the woods - and don't visit the feeders - well not in my garden - have a lovely weekend - Jane UK

Beautiful skies! I love the statue in the second photo. I wonder what that is all about. Your hawk is indeed cute. It has such a short tail. Love it!

Beautiful skies that offset the grandeur of the statues, Eileen. Quite appropriate that you also included the hawk photos. Very nice!

My dad use to "drag" my sister and I around to all the Civil War areas when we were kids. I haven't been to Gettysburg in years.

Wonderful sighting of the red shoulder, agee some of the hawks are so difficult to ID.

Beautiful shots of the battlefield! And the hawk is a bonus. Even with the crowds, there is a respectful serenity on the battlefield.

A watchful eye, a hungry bird.

That bird on the picture sure has a character! Beautiful sky... I have a bird feeder in the little garden and am trying to shoot a picture of a red cardinal, but the moment he "sees" me, he flies away.

I love your big old blue skies and big white fluffy clouds.

I never really understood the Civil War battlefields attraction until last summer when we visited Vicksburg. Now I'm quite eager to visit Gettysburg.
